The trendiest thing in Japan is to inject saline in your forehead while depressing the point-of-injection with a finger. It temporarily creates a doughnut-like deformation on one's forehead and apparently makes you the hottest thing among people that like to take pictures of strange things and post them on the internet. I have no explanation for this trend other than just typing 'Japan' and referring to the fact that they created Mechagodzilla. Those guys can get away with anything. Who else could sell a concept of two Italian plumbers using giant green tubes to warp through the fabric of time and space only to use raccoon feathers to save the life of a princess from a giant, fire breathing turtle? You can take all the salvia in the known universe and still not develop a story as cooky as that.

While Brett Rogers breaking his arm in the first two minutes of his Bellator heavyweight tournament bout against Alexander Volkov isn't as nutty as a doughnut-like deformation, it's still rather disgusting. Rachel Mondeau caught up with Rogers after his unsuccessful bout last weekend and he told us what it's like to fight with a broken, floppy arm for over two rounds.

I was really unsure of what happened to my arm. I didn’t really know until about the third round that it was broken. I’ve never broke anything on my body before, so I just kept I kept going. I thought I needed to keep fighting. By the time I found out that it was, I just felt that I needed to keep going and hopefully catch him with something—catch him with that left.

I’ve never broken anything. It was a surreal moment for me. I was like fuck — something ain't right. I need to keep going with this and hope for the best. Volkov definitely realized by the third round that something wasn’t right, so he was trying to test me out from top to bottom. By the time we found it, it was just a little too late.

I did my part as far as surviving and making to it to the decision. That still is not a fight that I ever want to fight. I never want to have that type of fight again. Ever.

Women are no saints. I mean, of course he's a pro fighter, he's a man, he's a heavyweight, but he's also a regular man, with regular thoughts, regular obligations, and a woman can get easily on your nerves. I mean, look at Edward Scissorhands, he has a pretty inocent mind, but when he tries to cuddle someone, he just hurts them, it's not his fault to have scissors instead of hands. And the same applies to Rogers, he's a regular guy with the strenght of a bear, he can't control having that power, as he can't control being a regular guy with regular humour. So, I blame him for hitting his wife, but a wife is a regular human being with a lot of power too, they are no saints, they can get on your nerves as any human being can. So I don't see this incident really that worse as that of the one on the film. We all lost our nerves some times, the difference is just he has bear claws and we don't.

There are a lot of reasons to wish Brett Rogers well.

First of all, he took responsibility for attacking his wife and did the right thing owning up to his mistake without excuses. After he was cut, he went to a dark place, but he came back more humble and sought out better training.

Plus, remember, coming from a dirt poor background, Brett Rogers went from an ass job throwing tires to throwing jabs at The Last Emperor! Hello, Black Rocky....

I think he struggles with depression, and he clearly wasn't prepared for the spotlight put on him after going two rounds with Fedor. But he seems to have matured and grown as a person, and I'd like to see him succeed to the best of his abilities.

Rocky didn't get his shot because he was lucky enough to be born 6'5. That is the only reason Rogers got his. He spends almost no time training, or attempting to improve, as is clear by the fact that he has shown absolutely 0 improvement since we first saw him. Not even an improvement in cardio, something that takes no skill to develop. All you have to do to improve your cardio is work hard, but Rogers can't even be bothered to do that.

Mauro Ranallo also struggles with depression, and went from calling little shows to Pride and then back again. He never felt the need to beat women.
