King Ry to pocket 8 figures

Speaking to PBD podcast, Garcia said that as of now, Oscar De La Hoya and the DAZN brass are still doing the math on fighter purse and pay-per-view cuts. However, “King Ry” said he was already informed that is would be huge and he is expecting it to be around the region of 30 to 50 million.

“I don’t know about the pay-per-view or tickets but we’re going to find out real soon. I’m projected to make around thirty to fifty million from the fight… But Oscar said that they are very good. Very good, yeah,” Garcia said.

Ryan fooled Vegas

As for the news that Garcia made $12 million for betting on himself against Haney, “King Ry” also confirmed it’s true. According to Garcia, he felt disrespected that Vegas oddsmakers thought of him as an underdog because of his antics leading up to the fight. Little did they know, Garcia intended to look crazy to make Haney even more favorite, increasing his winnings in the process.

“It’s a true story. I made $12 million bucks… I felt really disrespected by Vegas. And in my head, I said, ‘This gonna be the biggest loss Vegas ever had in a minute,’ because I just felt like it was disrespectful. But now they need to put in consideration, ‘We cannot be looking at social media to maneuver our odds’ because obviously, they just got fooled,” Garcia said.

Looking back, Garcia didn’t capture the WBC super lightweight title because he went over the 140-pound limit. However, he still made a lot of money out of it and he is now the first boxer to hand Haney his first defeat.
