Many skulls were fractured and brains were detonated moments ago when Electronic Arts had their keynote speech at the E3 press conference. Aside from the claim that EA Sports MMA will have the most advanced fight engine in videogame history, they also announced a hidden little gem that they've been keeping under wraps for nearly a year: EA Live Broadcast. In short, you will be able to create your own fighter, place your face on the fighter and be able to broadcast your fights live while real commentators (Frank Shamrock, Mauro Renallo...etc) comment on your fight in real time. You will also be able to create hype videos (James Toney style) to give to your opponents. EA also announced that you will be able to fight for real prizes including signed memorabilia, EA merchandise...etc.

Yes, it's a lot to take in and apparently just a little too much for Dana White. Here's what he said on his Twitter minutes after the EA Sports MMA E3 preview wrapped up.

EA also dropped a new trailer filled with stuff you've never seen along with some snazzy pictures to keep you satisfied until October 19th. Bob Sapp for the absolute win.

I'm not really surprised Dana is pissed, other then making it nearly impossible to gain full mount and being able to push you opponent up against the cage, there isn't much new in terms of game play in the UFC game. Plus Dana hates competition more then he hates Loretta Hunt.

I'm excited to see what the EA game is like. I noticed from the trailer that the fighters shorts aren't their official shorts, that might change in the final game though.

how is Dan even in the game... I believe that the UFC game contract was exclusive. He's obviously not under contract with the UFC but I'm pretty sure the video game contract was lifelong regardless of the org. the fighters are in.

I was wondering the same thing. The UFC will probably wait till last minute and bring something to court and try to force them to pull the copies from the shelf in order to remove Hendo. EA could always use the news as free advertising and patch the game.

I think he looks fine. People are bashing the graphics big time. I think it looks great in comparison to Undisputed. Undisputed everyone looks so stiff and like they put the textures on the models and, like, used the SHARPEN filter in photoshop several times....everyt hing looks really rough.

I wish he would suck it up, drop the THQ Yukes guys or whatever, and try to get EA on board. Undisputed is a mess but people defend it like it is so great. If there is 1 feature in the game that completely doesn't work properly then that is bad. But Undisputed 2010 has...what...at least 3 features that don't work right.

I heard the DLC doesn't work anymore. Finding quick matches online doesn't work, you have to go to custom match and search over and over to finally get in a game or create your own which is so much of a pain that it isn't worth it. Omoplata cancel is broken...allows fighters that get taken down to immediately stand back up.

I mean a couple of these things should be simple fixes yet the game has been out...what a month?....and still not a single patch.

oh ya, and I forgot about how soooo many people in 2009 complained about "SUPER CAFs" online. Create A Fighters that have 100 stats for everything. THQ said several times this would not be a problem in 2010. Of course, of course...they didn't even bother to fix that in a year's time of people complaining.

Keep in mind guys that this is a first release in a new franchise for EA and it is going to be choppy. They took the Fight Night 4 engine and were determined to build it into a total MMA system, using all sorts of dynamic subsystems to create a fluid, non-robotic experience. It looks surprisingly good so far. Very good weighting on the strike animations.

Yuke's, with UFC, just changed up their Smackdown engine enough to capture some parts of MMA. That's also why it's so robotic, and a lot of the strikes look terribly silly.

Were they? Not really. 4-5 years ago they still had a monopoly on sports titles (Madden, NBA Live, Tiger Woods Golf). They are a larger company today, but their presence in sports gaming was still very strong.

it seems like all of you think live play by play commentary will be in every online match, but it won't EA saves live commentary for special events where the top players play each other on a live broadcast, so its like watching a ppv but in videogame form. so its probably a once a month type of deal

EA also plans to release an MMA game every two years while THQ obviously plans to do one every year, so technically thq is milking the cash cow more

I believe that the reason that this game will sell so well, is not because of anti-ufc nuthuggers, but because of the sheer amount of EA sports nuthuggers. EA sports constantly delivers solid sports games, and always trump 2ksports and whatever comp there is. At least this is the reason I will buy this game, yet I haven't bought either Disputed game.

you should be happy you stayed away from the Undisputed games. Once the nostalgia of playing as your favorite fighters wears off...all you are a left with is a decent fighting game with a bunch of broken parts that THQ won't fix. On their forum they have been saying the patch will come out "next week" for about 3 weeks now.

If you think EA delivers solid sports titles, then there's something wrong with you. The Madden franchise has become incredibly stale and uncreative over the years.

EA controls the sports game genre and has to deal with little to no competition, so they can keep releasing the same stale + re-hashed titles, the only difference being slightly updated graphics and a higher year number at the end of the title.
