Liver King shared the first weigh-in update after discontinuing steroid use for one week.
Social media fitness influencer Liver King, real name Bryan Johnson, rose to prominence for his monstrous physique and ancestral lifestyle over the last two years. Several videos of Johnson wolfing down raw meats and organs such as liver, kidney, bone marrow, brain, and bull testicles, did rounds around the internet. He quickly gained more than 1.7 million followers on Instagram and over 4 million followers on TikTok with his viral content.
The Liver King steroid lie exposed
The 45-year-old encourages his fans to live a life based on the nine ancestral tenets. While there were many who bought into his message, others were not fully sold on the idea. There was speculation about whether Johnson was on gear given how jacked he looked in his mid-40s. He denied using steroids at numerous events and credited the ancestral lifestyle for his physique.
Liver King grew his presence beyond the fitness realm. He collaborated with other online celebrities such as Logan Paul and mixed martial arts fighters like Paulo Costa, whom he had a liver-eating contest with. Even ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor got involved in a brief feud with Johnson.
Derek of MPMD (More Plates More Dates) called out Johnson’s natty status on Nov. 29. He showed screenshots from a private email that laid out his alleged blood work and steroid cycle. Following the exposé, Johnson confessed he had been on the juice. He issued an apology message expressing remorse for deceiving and lying to people. However, the apology was not well received by everyone, including UFC color commentator Joe Rogan and MMA legend Chael Sonnen.
Last month, Johnson committed to quitting steroids but added the caveat that he could not leave them instantly since he had been consuming heavy doses of multiple substances.
Liver King shares first weigh-in update
In recent Instagram stories, Liver King shared his weight after leaving steroids for one week and going 24 hours without food. He looked different a bit downsized from his former self.
In another story, Johnson shared the day 2 weigh-in after going 42 hours without food. He dropped down to 188 pounds.
Liver King has a long road ahead to redemption. Besides re-gaining his credibility, he will also need to combat a $25 million lawsuit filed by a New Yorker against him and his supplement companies for deceiving customers into buying their products. The complaint also included negative side effects for some due to the high consumption of raw meat.
Grizzled UFC veteran Donald Cerrone recently made headlines for his insanely jacked physique after stepping away from the competition. He admitted to using steroids and drew a comparison to Liver King.
