  • A new report stated that Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva is set to be announced
  • The YouTuber and his company have been hinting at a big-name opponent on social media

Back in May, YouTuber-turned-boxing star Jake Paul captured the attention of the fans when he claimed he could beat legendary fighters Anderson Silva and Floyd Mayweather in the same night. From then on, “The Problem Child” and the UFC legend have constantly been linked to a boxing match.

Is it “The Spider”?

Three months after Silva beat Bruno Machado as part of Mayweather’s last exhibition match, controversial YouTube news streamer Keem Star claimed that a boxing match with Paul is now being worked out.

“Anderson Silva vs Jake Paul! Who you got? I’m literally hearing that this is going to be announced! #DramaAlert,” Keem Star wrote.

Additional details from the report claimed that the match will be the main event of a Showtime PPV card set for October 29.

There’s a great chance

In relation to the report, Paul and his company MVP, has previously confirmed that his next opponent will be announced “next week.” It’s a bit too early to assume but “The Problem Child” and MVP both hinted that his next opponent is a big name in combat sports.

“My next opponent will be a pro boxer and of course he will have a winning record just like Timmy and Ramen did before they pulled out. October,” Paul tweeted.

“Next week we will announce JAKE PAUL’s next opponent. @jakepaul will almost certainly be the underdog. He knows that and he wants that,” the promotion tweeted.

“Just got the call. Massive opponent announcement this week. October,” Paul hinted.

It is yet to be known if Paul’s next fight will be a professional one or exhibition.

Prior to the report, there had been a back and forth between Silva’s team and Paul. The former UFC champion’s coach reckoned that Paul is good at promoting fights and his brand but when he faces Silva, it’s gonna be a whole different  story as he never dealt with a fighter in that level.

Silva last fought professionally in boxing last year when he knocked out his fellow UFC legend Tito Ortiz. But in May, he edged Machado in an entertaining exhibition match. Paul, meanwhile, is also coming off a win over a former UFC champion in Tyron Woodley last year. He was supposed to fight Hasim Rahman Jr. earlier this month but the match was cancelled after the Rahman missed weight.

It will be interesting to see if Silva vs. Paul does indeed materialize.
