Valentina Shevchenko Looking For Trilogy Fight With Nunes
Amanda Nunes has basically cleaned out two divisions as the first female champ champ. In recent history, nobody has been able to come as close to beating her, as Valentina Shevchenko.
Shevchenko has fought and lost to Nunes twice already, once before either was champion. However, it was their rematch for the Bantamweight title that saw Shevchenko drop a close decision to the women’s GOAT.
Since that fight, Shevchenko has gone on to find her success as the women’s flyweight queen. She is fresh off of a knockout win over Jessica Eye, and is rebounding quickly to take on Liz Carmouche, at UFC Uruguay. Leading up to this bout, Shevchenko spoke with MMAJunkie about if she was interested in a potential third fight with Nunes.
“If we’re speaking about me and Amanda, it’s also so complicated between her and (Cris) Cyborg so, let’s see what they’re deciding. But I think about our third fight. It’s not what I want. It’s not what she wants. It’s going to happen, anyway. I don’t know if it’s going to happen soon, later, when, I don’t know – but it’s going to happen because it’s not under our control. It’s already always there.”
Amanda Nunes has been looking all but invincible, capturing the bantamweight and featherweight strap. Additionally, she had claimed finishes over the likes of Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, and Ronda Rousey. Shevchenko is the only person in recent years to make Nunes look beatable.
So does this third fight with Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko go down? If so, will it go the same way as the first two?
