- Khamzat Chimaev is eyeing a possible UFC return in October in Abu Dhabi
- “Borz” believes he deserves to get a title shot for his next fight
Khamzat Chimaev is certain about how and when he wants to make his much-awaited UFC return.
Borz is coming for the title
In a recent interview, “Borz” revealed his plan to fight for the title in his next fight. While it’s not yet official, Chimaev said he has already been discussing it with the UFC. Moreover, Chimaev wants to be included in the UFC’s annual event in Abu Dhabi in October.
“Most likely [my return will happen] in October in Abu Dhabi. The opponent is not yet known, but I would like to fight for the title. I have seven fights, seven victories. There is no fighter in the UFC who has won seven fights without fighting for the belt. Dana White constantly says different things, but we are negotiating,” Chimaev said.

Borz has been out for quite some time
Indeed, Chimaev boast an impressive UFC record but he seems to be dealing with bad luck as of late. He was most recently booked to headline UFC Saudi Arabia against Robert Whittaker but was forced to pull out from the card after becoming “violently ill.”
Chimaev’s inactivity and sudden withdrawal from a huge fight appears to be a disadvantage in his road to title contention. As it turns out, reigning middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis isn’t interested in talking about a potential showdown with “Borz” at this point.
Chimaev last fought at UFC 294 in which he beat Kamaru Usman via majority decision. He has been undefeated in his seven consecutive fights under the UFC banner and is currently the No. 11 ranked middleweight contender.
