Tyron Woodley is looking for the potential of a big payday against the Diaz brothers.

There has been a trajectory of MMA fighters retiring and heading over to boxing. The transition has been growing more and more, and now seems almost commonplace that once a popular fighter leaves the UFC they will end up in the squared circle. This has worked well so far for Tyron Woodley.

Back in 2016, Tyron Woodley ruled the UFC welterweight division. He won the title and defended it four times. When his UFC career was through he made the leap to boxing and was matched up with one of the biggest rising stars in the sport. Woodley fought Jake Paul twice, and although he was not victorious has claimed to have made more money in those two fights than in his entire UFC career. Now he is lobbying for another free agent to follow in his footsteps.

Nate Diaz is fresh off his final UFC fight. The longtime UFC fighter has fought out his contract and is now a free agent. Diaz has expressed interest in making his way to boxing and has been involved in public talks with Jake Paul. Woodley is now pushing that both Diaz brothers consider him as a possible opponent.

“I would suggest he (Nate) go and get paid top dollar,” Woodley said in an interview with MMA Junkie. “I would suggest that he do what makes him feel good, if he still wants to do it, when he wants to do it. That’s what I’d suggest – and I suggest he come over on this side and make some money with me, because I got a good opportunity with me and Nick or Nate, or both of them, (we) can make quite a few millions of dollars fighting each other.”

Diaz is a very popular fighter and will most likely have his choice of several different opportunities now that his contract with the UFC is through. He has been pursued by Paul, Floyd Mayweather, and now Woodley. If he chooses boxing as his next endeavor, he will surely be able to make big money. He is also starting up his very own fight promotion called Real Fight Inc. Woodley did not specifically mention boxing, and it could be the invitation is for an MMA fight instead.
