Ferguson Explains Hotel Altercation On The Helwani MMA Show
Not only was Tony Ferguson unimpressed by Khabib Nurmagomedov’s performance against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242, but he also is trying to re-heat their rivalry. Ferguson spoke to Ariel Helwani of ESPN on the Helwani MMA Show. He wasn’t shy about using a hotel altercation from the past as fuel for their hopeful upcoming bout in December.
Tony on how he would prepare for the Khabib Matchup
At this time, it would be the fifth attempt of making this matchup. Tony explained how to unlock the code of the undefeated Eagle.
“Well, he pissed me off a couple (of) times,” said Ferguson. “When him and his team circled my family over at the hotel, I owe him one for that.
Ferguson then explained an elevator incident. “I remember I just actually got done with my arm being broke and I’m at the fight, and the elevator doors open. Here’s Javi man, f***king looking at me. I didn’t remember who he was, just that he was a coach. And he looked at me and he kinda went ‘(mouths disappointed sigh noise) that’s him?’
Tony continued, “I walked by him and I was like ‘who’s that?’ (but) Then I figured it out and I was like ‘what the f**k dude?’
Tony Explained Further Incidents
“These dudes are just a bunch of f***ing bullies,” said Tony. “I was standing up, I stood up. Ali Abdelaziz and I exchanged some words over at the fight not too long ago. He knows exactly what he is dealing with.”
Tony also made it known that he is not the one to mess around with
“I don’t play around dude, I really don’t,” stated Ferguson. “When I do, it’s cool… it’s fun and games. But when it comes to this fight(ing) game it’s ruthless man. It’s more ruthless than Robbie Lawler.”
Getting the Fight Made
The pair ended the conversation with Ariel asking Tony about getting the deal done in December. Tony explained how he was going to call his management immediately after the interview to try and get the fight made. He repeated the notion that he wants to fight more than once a year and that while Khabib deserves time off, come Tuesday, Ferguson plans on reminding Khabib what day it is.
