Longtime UFC veteran Sam Alvey claims he nearly broke Logan Paul’s jaw sparring him.
Sam Alvey Claims He Nearly Broke Logan Paul’s Jaw
Alvey was recently a guest on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani, where he discussed his current mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
“Smilin Sam” is currently on an eight-fight losing streak in the UFC, a record for most consecutive fights without a win.
Yesterday, it was announced that Alvey was released from the UFC. His last Octagon appearance resulted in a first-round TKO loss at UFC Vegas 59, where he broke his jaw.

During the interview, Alvey was asked for his thoughts on boxing YouTube stars Jake and Logan Paul. Alvey revealed that, years ago, he was brought in by the Paul brothers to work with them in sparring.
“Before their first fight, they invited me to come out and help them train, so I helped spar with Logan Paul. Yeah, this would have been five years ago, six years ago,” Alvey said (via LowKickMMA)
“Something like that. I ended up meeting up with their boxing coach standing in line for an MMA Junkie award something and his boxing trainer and I, we split messages and they brought me out to help them train for a day.
“I got to spar with Logan Paul and it was a lot of fun. Logan seemed like a good dude. I wasn’t crazy about Jake, but it could have just been the day.”
Alvey revealed that he wasn’t a big fan of Jake Paul, but the oldest brother, Logan, was okay.
Alvey then divulged some more information about the sparring session. He noted that he hurt Logan badly during their session, nearly breaking his jaw and knocking him back.
After that, Jake Paul didn’t want to spar him, and Alvey was never invited back to the camp.
“He was a douche. He was. He was a douche. Logan Paul seemed okay. Logan, I actually almost broke his jaw in the sparring session.
“I was doing the best I could to carry him, to just be a training partner for him, throw something and he just kept getting hit. At one point he kinda fell back. I was supposed to spar his brother too.
“Jake wouldn’t do it afterward. I said, ‘Jake, I’ll take it easy, I’ll give you whatever work you want,’ but Jake wouldn’t spar me that day. I was never invited back.”
Now that Alvey is no longer contracted to the UFC, should he desire, he’s free to box either one of the Paul brothers.
