Former UFC Fighter Karl Roberson Has Been Charged In Jewelry Theft

Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson was involved in a theft which led to his arrest and being charged with multiple crimes.

Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson has been charged with jewelry theft in New Jersey. 

Things are not looking good for former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight fighter Karl Roberson. According to a statement released by the Howell Township Police Department in New Jersey, Roberson was arrested and charged with a burglary near his hometown. According to the report, Roberson had not acted alone and was suspected of taking jewelry valued at over $200,000. 

At the time of the arrest, Roberson was driving a car that was connected to the robbery. That was not all, after he was in custody, police received a warrant to search his car and found a weapon and drugs also connected to the robbery.

“During the search, officers found a defaced 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, several packages of suspected “crack cocaine,” marijuana, and items related to the burglary,” the press release read.

Karl Roberson has yet to release a statement regarding the charges 

The incident in question occurred on December 26, 2022. The estimated value of the stolen “exotic jewelry” was over 200K. The suspects were caught on home security footage at the time. 

Also arrested in this crime was a man named Dathan Thompson. He was charged with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. Roberson was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and several weapons offenses. 

Roberson came to the UFC back in 2017 as a winner on the Dana White Contender Series. He fought in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. Over his five years in the organization, he fought some of the best in the sport including, Glover Teixeira, Marvin Vettori, and Khalil Rountree. He was released from the UFC in 2022 after losing four fights in a row. Roberson was held in the county jail for three weeks but has been released according to MMA Fighting. He has not yet made a public statement.
