Aleksei Oleinik is no longer a member of the UFC’s roster.
Aleksei Oleinik Removed From UFC Roster
According to a report from MMA Fighting, Oleinik has been removed from the UFC’s roster after his contract with the promotion has expired.
While Oleinik is obviously now a free agent, the UFC could still re-sign him at any time.
Oleinik has never found himself in serious contention for the UFC heavyweight title, but he has always proven extremely dangerous as a grappler on the ground.
Recently, Oleinik found himself on a three-fight losing streak, however, that was snapped when Oleinik picked up a first-round submission win over Jared Vanderaa back in April.
However, his last fight in the Octagon resulted in a unanimous decision defeat to Ilir Latifi earlier this month in Las Vegas.
Now, it remains to be seen what the 45-year-old decides to do at this point in his fighting career.
Despite his age, Oleinik is still very dangerous on the ground, being the only fighter in UFC history to pull off a submission win with the scarf hold, and has done so on more than one occasion.
Oleinik has been competing in mixed martial arts (MMA) since 1996, having fought under the banners of promotions such as Bellator, and, of course, the UFC.
