Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has heard the suggestion for a showdown with 205-pound titleholder Alex Pereira.

Aspinall clearly has been itching for a fight ever since he captured the interim gold. It’s a title he earned by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich in the first round of their UFC 295 showdown. Aspinall has ruffled the feathers of UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, calling for their planned legacy fight to be scrapped in favor of him getting his undisputed title bout immediately.

With Aspinall looking for a fight and the UFC 300 card needing a headliner, it’s led some to suggest the interim heavyweight titleholder could take that spot. Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen even threw out the idea of Aspinall sharing the Octagon with Pereira.

Tom Aspinall On Alex Pereira Fight Rumors

Tom Aspinall is aware of the online chatter and he’s taken to YouTube Shorts to address the hoopla. It’s clear that Aspinall isn’t pounding the table for the fight, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take it.

“If he wants to I will, but going on record and saying I’m not a bully,” Aspinall said. “I don’t bully smaller guys, but if the smaller guy wants to scrap count me in.”

Aspinall’s stock has been soaring and if he can continue to look as dominant as he has, we might be looking at the future of the heavyweight division. While Aspinall isn’t the heavyweight division’s undisputed king, he has consistently shared his belief that he should be fighting either Jones or Stipe next. He’s even thrown shots Miocic’s way, overexaggerating the last time he emerged victorious inside the Octagon.
