UFC Heavyweight champ Jon Jones hits back at interim fighter Tom Aspinall’s demand to strip him of the title due to injury.

Jones, the UFC heavyweight champion, was expected to put his gold at stake against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 295 back in November 2023. It didn’t happen, as “Bones” suffered a torn pectoral tendon. Aspinall was then given a crack at the interim gold, and he ended up making the most of that chance by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich in the first round.

Recently, Apsinall has called for the UFC to ditch initial plans to book Jones against Miocic. He even took aim at Miocic’s inactivity in a series of posts on X.

It has become apparent that Jones was aware of Aspinall’s posts, as he took to his X account to downplay the interim UFC heavyweight champion’s resume.

“Only four recognizable opponents, and already the king of England, must be nice. There will be legendary tales told about you and your infamous call outs,” Jones wrote.

Aspinall fired back, reminding “Bones” that he’s in the UFC to take him out and rule as the undisputed heavyweight king.

“Jon you’re letting your ego run wild here mate. I’m not downplaying you’re résumé, it’s incredible. Far superior to mine. You are known as the best fighter ever, and that’s EXACTLY why I want to beat you. Surely you can understand that?”

Jones believes that the sport of MMA is a cold one, as one minute you’re loved and the next you are “discredited.”

“It’s a wild world we live in! People can be so quick to try to replace you, throw you away, discredit your work. That’s the best thing about them stats or just being able to see the fruits of your labor. Be an absolute savage at what you do, at whatever capacity that may be. Let the work speak for itself, be undeniable in this world ladies and gentlemen. Be absolutely undeniable.”
