Oscar De La Hoya and Ryan Garcia continued their falling out since the latter suffered his first professional boxing loss.
On April 22, Garcia came up short after taking a massive risk against Gervonta Davis. Following the seventh-round loss, controversy began circulating on social media when ‘KingRy’ showed up to the post-fight press conference alone.
De La Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, and Joe Goosen, Garcia’s former trainer, were accused of abandoning their fighter in his lowest moment. During a recent YouTube video with Bradley Martyn, the 24-year-old opened up about his team not having his back.
De La Hoya had this to say on Twitter about Garcia’s comments:
“Wtf @RyanGarcia it’s been almost two months and youre still crying about the post presser? The blame for your loss is on YOU and your “advisor”Lupe. He is the only one who pushed you to accept that INSANE rehydration clause and THAT is the reason you lost. Man up. Own that.”

Oscar De La Hoya followed up with another tweet:
“Also, you keep saying “tanks team offered more support for you” blah blah blah. Bro they SET YOU UP TO LOSE with that rehydration clause and most importantly…AL HAYMON DIDNT EVEN SHOW UP THE ENTIRE WEEK. Actually, he NEVER shows up. How’s that for “support”???”
Shortly after losing against Davis, Garcia fired his trainer, Goosen, and started working with Derrick James. ‘KingRy’ seems potentially interested in finding a new promoter, but De La Hoya has revealed that the 24-year-old still has contractual obligations to fulfill.

Ryan Garcia responds to Oscar De La Hoya’s callout
It’s safe to say that the situation between Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya is starting to get out of hand. There are two sides to every story, and Garcia didn’t take long to respond to De La Hoya on Twitter. Shortly after his promoter called him out, ‘KingRy’ had this to say:
“Okay buddy, you got it all figured out Tired of you disrespecting my whole career and you think non of it matters. Loyalty and common sense is lost in your head. Stop treating people that way and think they will just accept it.”
Ryan Garcia followed up by saying:
“You know I’m about to fight this guy And you go act buddy buddy with him.. You don’t care about your fighters. Really tired of this fake act!! STOP THE CAP BE REAL FOR ONCE MAN. I can respect you more if you just told me the truth, you’re in it for the cash. No love lost.”
Garcia’s loss against Gervonta Davis extended his professional boxing record to 23-1. The young superstar is moving back to 140 pounds, where various intriguing matchups await. The 24-year-old has been connected to rumors about his next fight being against Rolly Romero, the WBA super lightweight champion.
