Max Holloway shared his honest thoughts on Ilia Topuria and Ryan Garcia.
Max was blown away by Ryan’s guts
Speaking on the JRE podcast, “Blessed” was in awe of how “King Ry” managed to take home $12 million in winnings by betting on himself against Devin Haney. Holloway is aware of how much money Garcia lost for missing weight but he was dumbfounded by how “King Ry” got almost times five of it.
“He paid $2.1 million in fees. So he won 10 million. He paid $1.5 million to Haney, ’cause he said $500,00 for every pound. He had to pay the ectra $600,000 or $500,000 to the commission. So it was like $2.1 million. And he betted himself he’s like, ‘Bro, I don’t give a sh*t,'” Holloway told Joe Rogan.
Ilia is like an angry girlfriend
Holloway also discussed his ongoing feud with Topuria. The way “Blessed” sees it, “El Matador” is ducking everybody in the featherweight’s Top 15. Moreover, Holloway said Topuria’s trash-talking skills is weak, comparing it to a text from an “angry girlfriend.”
“Ilia didn’t want to fight nobody in the top f**king 15 brother… Motherf**ker want to fight himself, bro,” Holloway said. “This is the guy we’re dealing with bro. So we had a bible verse-off on Twitter. Everybody’s saying freaking 10-8, Holloway, cause of the verse I used against him… And he writes like a freaking paragraph to me. I didn’t even read it, that’s how long it was. He writes a paragraph to me and I was just tripping out. It was like an angry girlfriend text, you know. Like my wife don’t even text me like that.”
“I read the first sentences, I was like, I’m not reading this bro. What the hell is wrong with you? I don’t know what’s going on. I read the first two and then I saw you had to scroll I was like what the f**k? Did I make my wife mad? I had to make sure that wasn’t her,” he added.
Topuria has turned down a rematch with Alexander Volkanovksi and has yet to pick his next challenger in the featherweight division. On the other hand, Holloway is coming off one of the greatest knockout wins in UFC history and unsurprisingly ready for whoever is put in front of him.
