Nate Diaz is getting some boxing help from an Olympic silver medalist.

Nate Diaz will be headed to the square circle later this year as he takes on Jake Paul and his very first professional boxing match. After years in the UFC, rising up to superstardom, Nate Diaz decided to retire from mixed martial arts but a boxing match with Paul was too much to pass up. Diaz is looking to end Paul’s winning streak over mixed martial artists and is calling in some outside help in order to do that

Diaz vs. Paul will be taking place on August 5 in Texas. There have been some issues surrounding the location of the fight and the details of the bout itself. Diaz and Paul have been going back and forth on social media regarding location changes due to marijuana testing obligations, and how many rounds the fight will be. Right now it is scheduled for eight rounds but Diaz is preparing himself for a longer bout.

Recently Diaz visited Olympic silver medalist Esquiva Falcão’s gym where he got in a few rounds. Falcão took to Instagram to brag about his training session with Diaz and give fans a little insight into how the former UFC fighter is faring inside the ring.

“Great, great guy. In the beginning, I thought he was tired. By the end, it looked like he was dying, you know? Because his fighting style is a crazy one. When you look at him, you go: ‘He’s tired already’, then we started sparring and in the second round Robert (Falcao’s coach) told me that he was already tired. So he told me to take it easy, keep it steady so he can go for at least 10 rounds,” he said h/t Bloody Elbow. “We ended up going for 12 rounds, even though he was tired. He was landing shots and eating a lot of shots, too. It’s bad. He is heavy now, he’s overweight He must weigh about 220 pounds now or more.”

Falcão claimed that Diaz was heavier than he usually is estimating he probably weighed about 220 pounds. He also stated that he looked a little tired during their session Diaz still has a long way to go before the August boxing debut and seems to be doing what he needs in order to be ready against Paul.
