UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman is in critical condition after a devastating house fire.
Earlier today, March 12, Coleman was placed into a terrifying situation, as a house in Ohio caught fire containing his parents and dog. The former UFC fighter heroically carried his mother and father out of the house safely.
Unfortunately, Coleman passed out inside the house due to smoke inhalation and wasn’t able to save his dog. ‘The Hammer’ was rushed to the hospital via airlift, where he is currently fighting for his life.
The former UFC fighter’s daughter, Morgan Coleman, released the following message on Instagram:
“As many know, our dad was involved in a house fire early this morning along with his parents and beloved dog, hammer. He managed to carry both of his parents out of the house but despite his best efforts was not able to save hammer. He was life-flighted to the hospital where he is currently battling for his life after this heroic act.”
Between 1996 and 1999, Mark Coleman solidified himself as a legend by winning the UFC 10 and UFC 11 tournaments. He later became the inaugural UFC heavyweight champion with a submission win against Dan Severn.
Following his UFC tenure, Coleman signed with Pride Fighting Championship, where he established an 8-5 record against fellow legends. ‘The Hammer’ ended his fighting career with a three-fight run in the UFC between 2009 and 2010.

Morgan Coleman, the daughter of Mark Coleman, shares heartfelt message about heroic father
Most people know Mark Coleman because of his unforgettable MMA career. With that said, the Ohio native is more than just a fighter, as he’s also a father to three daughters.
During the previously mentioned Instagram statement, Coleman’s daughter, Morgan Coleman, had this to say about ‘The Hammer’:
“Our father has always been our hero and means the world to us. He is and always will be a fighter. The strongest snd bravest man I know. Please continue to pray for him and our family during this extremely difficult time. We will miss our sweet hammer so deeply. Thank you for all the love and support. Hammer house for life 🤍”
There haven’t been any updates about Mark Coleman’s status in the hospital. At this time, the MMA community must continuously provide their thoughts and prayers to Coleman, his family, and his friends.
