Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith Dubs Brock Lesnar vs. Jim Miller a ’50/50′ Fight: ‘That Guy’s Nasty on the Ground’

Smith believes Jim Miller would snag a submission against Brock Lesnar in a hypothetical clash between the two veterans

When it comes to fantasy matchmaking in any sport, the crazier, the better.

With UFC 300 mere months away, fighters and fans alike are having a ton of fun debating bouts worthy of headlining the milestone event. Everything from Tom Aspinall vs. Alex Pereira to a rematch between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz has been discussed for the card. But perhaps it is light heavyweight standout Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith who had the craziest matchup in mind.

On April 13, Jim Miller is expected to etch his name in the history books, becoming the only fighter in promotional history to compete at UFC 100, UFC 200, and UFC 300. However, there is one other man who could accomplish that same feat should he choose to once again strap on the four-ounce gloves.

Former UFC heavyweight champion and current WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar competed at the first two centennial events. Speaking with co-host, Michael Bisping, ‘Lionheart’ not only suggested that both Lesnar and Miller could make history simultaneously, but that they could do it whilst squaring off against one another.

Smith took things a step further suggesting that a fight between the former heavyweight king and the lightweight veteran would be “50/50.”

“One, maybe,” Smith said on the Believe You Me podcast of how many Millers would be needed to beat one Lesnar. “If Jim gets ahold of a neck or something. Maybe [Lesnar could beat him]. I think that’s a 50/50. If Brock Lesnar lands big, Jim Miller goes to sleep and dies.

“I’m not sure I would,” he responded when Bisping told him he’d bet $50,000 on Lesnar over Miller. “Maybe I have so much love for Jim Miller that I can’t imagine him not catching Brock Lesnar in a submission, but that guy’s nasty on the ground. Definitely Jim Miller on the street.”

Jim Miller Goes For Career Win Number 37 at UFC Vegas 84

With 53 career fights under his belt, Jim Miller has long established himself as one of the UFC’s best submission specialists. Over his 19 years in MMA, ‘A-10’ has earned 19 victories by way of submission with another seven via KO. Miller has won four of his last five bouts inside the Octagon, his only loss during that run coming against Alexander Hernandez via unanimous decision.

Equally impressive is the fact that Miller has only been finished five times since making his pro mixed martial arts debut in 2005.

He’ll look to land his 26th career win inside the Octagon this weekend (January 13, 2024) when he returns for a scrap with Gabriel Benitez at UFC Vegas 84. Win or lose, Miller has been vocal about competing at UFC 300 in April.

Though it’s probably safe to assume that it won’t be against Brock Lesnar.
