Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will reportedly be running it back, but this time in boxing.
Masvidal and Diaz fought back at UFC 244 in 2019 for the inaugural BMF title and it was ‘Gamebred’ who won by doctor stoppage. Since then, Masvidal lost four straight fights, including two for the UFC welterweight title and ended up retiring, while Diaz lost to Leon Edwards and then beat Tony Ferguson to enter free agency.
As a free agent, Diaz made his pro boxing debut against Jake Paul and lost a decision. Since then, Diaz has remained a free agent, while Masvidal announced he’s unretiring.

Now, on Monday evening, Happy Punch reported that Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz are set to box in March in Las Vegas, with the UFC reportedly giving the green light for “Gamebred” to do so. Although Masvidal retired, he still was under contract, but the promotion reportedly will allow this boxing match to take place.
After the report from Happy Punch, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani then took to X to report the boxing match is indeed in the works.
As I said multiple times recently, neither man was slated or in talks for 300.
This was always the targeted bout.

“Nathan Diaz x Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match is in fact in the works for later this year, sources say. First reported by @happypunch. I ask Diaz’s rep Zach Rosenfield this evening about it, and he said “I can’t confirm that…” As I said multiple times recently, neither man was slated or in talks for 300. This was always the targeted bout.”
Despite both Masvidal and Diaz being big names in the sport, as Helwani reports, it was never in discussion for this fight to take place at UFC 300.
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz’s history
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz do have a history with one another as the two fought in 2019 at Madison Square Garden.
After the fight ended in controversy due to a doctor stoppage, Diaz has been vocal in the hopes of rematching Masvidal.
“I believe I was responsible for this whole shit,” Diaz said at the UFC 244 post-fight press conference. “I brought the president – straight up. I didn’t see no president going to no title fights. I believe it’s (a rematch with Masvidal) fair.”
Although Nate Diaz wanted the rematch with Jorge Masvidal right away, he never got it, but now it appears that the two will rematch, but this time in boxing.
