Jorge Masvidal Says Not Doing Steroids Extended His Career

Jorge Masvidal has been fighting for a very long time. He attributes this longevity to having never done steroids.

Masvidal has been competing for so long, that he was on YouTube fighting in backyards for Kimbo Slice. However, he has mixed success in the UFC, oftentimes dropping close decisions in important fights. Nevertheless, things have started changing for “Gamebred” in recent times. He is coming off a massive 5-second knockout, which has boosted his popularity.

This heightened profile resulted in Masvidal receiving a callout from Nate Diaz, following his win over Anthony Pettis at UFC 241. Diaz is another fighter who has been competing for a very long time. Similar to Masvidal, Diaz recently experienced his own boost in popularity, with the legendary McGregor fights.

When speaking with MMAJunkie, Jorge Masvidal was asked about the longevity of himself, and Diaz. He has an interesting answer as to why they have been able to stick around.

“Like Nate, I’ve never used steroids. I don’t think that dude has either. I don’t live with him, so I don’t know. But his body hasn’t really changed. He gets in better shape. Some fights, maybe he didn’t take it as seriously and wasn’t in crazy shape. But I don’t think he’s ever done steroids. I’ve never done steroids. That might be a big thing toward the longevity.

I must be doing something right. Or I must have not cheated back in the day, like a lot of motherfuckers did when all of you media motherfuckers were covering them, knowing these motherfuckers were on juice. Not worried about the natural killers, man. The real killers, man. Because when these curtains close, some wild shit on this side, bro.”

Although it has yet to be booked, the idea of Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz was met with basically unanimous praise. The two are very similar in personality, and the lead up would be entertaining.
