The UFC is reportedly facing a billion-dollar lawsuit against fighters and Joe Rogan offered a possible solution.

Joe found a way

Discussin the subject on his JRE podcast, Rogan first explained how the UFC’s reported $1,6 billion lawsuit may have come about. According to the UFC color commentator, it has something to do with funds being spent on political matters.

Well aware that the lawsuit is about fighters looking to earn more money, Rogan suggested that the UFC could come up with a new sponsorship setup where sponsors can pick the fighters they want to work with. That way, Rogan said everybody would be happy.

“Holy sh*t, dude! Well, they bought out the competition, which is definitely true. They bought Affliction, they bought Strikeforce… but in some businesses, they will like, break you up if you have a monopoly. It seems to be, at the very least, connected politically. Now that’s where it gets weird. It’s like how much money are you donating to the democratic party? How much money you donate to the republican party? how much money do you spend on whatever programs they want? How much money you spend on whatever charities they would like? Whatever funds, whatever this, whatever that, whatever foundations.” Rogan began. “You got to play this game and then still, if people complain and a lawsuit comes about, there is this possibility that you could be a monopoly.”

“Well, the Reebok thing, there’s a real argument there. It’s like, you all of a sudden take away the fighter’s ability to have ads. There was one of the things that I knew from you that you had more money in sponsors for your shorts or for the fight week than you did from your purse,” he explained.

“Here’s the solution I thought of. Get a bunch of people that are interested in sponsoring the UFC, approve them. Approve all those people and say, this is our list of fighters, who would you like to work with?… It would be lucrative for everybody if you had a bunch of sponsors,” he added.

The UFC fighter pay saga

In recent years, the UFC has made headlines regarding issues about fighter pay. A number of former UFC fighters have already filed a lawsuit against the promotion with some aiming to expose the UFC’s alleged unfair treatment of fighters, especially in terms of salary.

Boxing star Jake Paul has been one of the most active combat sports personalities taking a jab at the UFC over the matter.
