Jake Paul has officially signed on to an MMA organization and is targeting Nate Diaz as his first fight.

Over the last few years, Jake Paul has taken the boxing world by storm. The Disney channel star became a YouTube sensation and then began to target the sport of boxing. Since his debut, fans have been tuning in more and more to see what he has been up to and to watch his fights. Maybe to the dismay of some fans, Paul has been winning. He has taken down several world-champion MMA stars inside the boxing ring but is now ready to turn the tables. Paul has announced that he has signed on with the Professional Fighters League and will in fact compete in mixed martial arts.

In addition to his deal to fight within PFL, Paul will have another role to occupy with his new company. He is aiming to help out all fighters as the new “Head of Fighter Advocacy.” He explains all this and also who he is targeting for his fight bout in a new video released on YouTube.

Jake Paul will be the face of PFL’s new PPV super fight division

Paul has been pushing for better fighter pay for MMA athletes over the last few years. He has been trying to create a fighters union to provide athletes better purses within MMA as a whole, but mostly in the UFC. Now he will be able to do just that with PFL. He explained the draw to PFL which includes creating better conditions for the fighters in that organization.

“I’ve officially signed as an MMA fighter to the fastest-growing sports league in the world. The PFL baby, the professional fighters league baby, and not only am I an MMA fighter now officially signed to an organization, but I am also a co-founder of the new PFL pay-per-view, Super Fight division,” he said. “I will be the head of fighter advocacy, and as the head of fighter advocacy, I’m going to use my platform to market PFL fighters and introduce them to my fans worldwide. I personally will be deeply involved in making sure that the PFL is the best place in the world for fighters. As you know, I’ve been trying to increase fighter pay for all fighters worldwide and with the launch of this new PFL Super Fight division, our fighters will be receiving 50% of the revenue.”

PFL has been moving towards this PPV division over the last year. It will be a place for their biggest-named fighters to compete outside the standard PFL season format. It appears that Paul will be fighting in this format alongside Kayla Harrison. So with such a massive platform, who will Paul be fighting? He lays out his plans to woo a familiar face from the UFC over to stand across the PFL cage from him, Nate Diaz.

“I’ve already disrupted boxing, and now it’s time to disrupt MMA. I know this is such a tough sport, and it’s not going to be easy, but if I could do it in boxing, I could do it in MMA,” he said. “I’m so dedicated to this that I offered Nate Diaz a fight deal,  first we box, then six months later, we fight MMA in the PFL smart cage and lay it all on the line. If that’s not balls, then I don’t know what is. Nate Diaz, I’m down to fight you in your own damn sport. Let’s make it happen.”

This news may come as a surprise to fans but MMA fans should be ready to embrace this signing. It is time that Paul turned the tables and began fighting MMA fighters inside the cage instead of in the ring. Paul also took a shot at Dana White at the end of the video, whom he has been targeting about fighter pay for over a year. This partnership could make that relationship even more interesting going forward.
