Daniel Cormier thinks Nate Diaz is perfect for Jake Paul.
After a long career with the UFC, Nate Diaz is now a free agent. This news was a long time coming as Diaz had been trying to get out of his contract with the UFC for years now. He fought out his current contract and officially became a free agent this week. Since the news of Diaz’s free agency became public and even before then, he began to receive callouts and offers from some of the biggest names in sports.
Diaz has teased a turn to boxing following his UFC career but has not set anything in stone just yet. One man who has been very interested in a fight against Diaz is Jake Paul.
Daniel Cormier thinks Nate Diaz will fight Jake Paul next
Daniel Cormier has had a successful fighting career and has since set himself up as one of the biggest MMA analysts in the game. He has the opportunity to chime in on all the biggest MMA news on his ESPN show called DC and RC. He recently spoke about Diaz’s future and why he feels Diaz is the perfect next choice for Jake Paul.
“I think Diaz is going to fight Jake Paul. I really do it. Everything seems right. Everything seems right for that to be the fight, just because Nate is the opponent type that we seem to see Jake Paul in with,” he said on his ESPN show. “A guy that is no longer in the UFC, a guy that has a boxing background, or has the ability to box it but would not seem as dangerous. I thought Anderson Silva was very dangerous. But as you know, Nate beats you in volume, isn’t the guy that just knocks you out. So I think that kind of plays to what Jake Paul would look for in an opponent, especially a guy that can help to move the needle, because he’s never had a guy in there with him that moves the needle like Nathan did.”
Both Diaz and Paul have expressed interest in this fight happening. Now that Diaz is free he can make the choice to face Paul or face any other big-name fighter. Diaz has created a cult following for himself ever since he defeated Conor McGregor back in 2016. The ball seems to be in Diaz’s court.
