Jake Ellenberger Retires Following First Round TKO Loss To Bryan Barberena At UFC Lincoln

Jake Ellenberger Announces Retirement After Bryan Barberena Wins The Bout Via First-Round TKO

Bryan Barberena and Jake Ellenberger throw down tonight (Sat., August 25, 2018) in a welterweight bout from Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, live on Fox Sports 1. Barberena won the bout via first-round TKO to Ellenberger. With the loss “The Juggernaut” dropped to 2-9 in his last eleven fights.

Jake Ellenberger came in early with a feinting movement against Barberena and hurled some hooks. Both fighters clinch in the middle and traded some good knees. Ellenberger got better in throwing strikes and landed a kick inside Barberena’s leg, in return a low kick from Barberena one minute in. They trade strikes with both fighters slipping and landing. Barberena landed a Right hand that rocks Ellenberger and sends him to the canvas with a flurry. Ellenberger tries to shoot back but falls once again and Barberena ground and pounds him out.

Ellenberger in his post-fight interview announces his retirement and put his gloves in the middle of the Octagon. He made his professional MMA debut back in 2005 and hangs his gloves with a record of 31-15, and holds some notable wins over the likes of Jake Shields, Nate Marquardt, Mike Pyle, Diego Sanchez, and Matt Brown.

“There’s no better place for me to set the gloves down and say ‘it’s time to move on’ than the same place we started — here at home in Nebraska — with my family, my friends, and everybody, I love you! Time to set ‘em down,” Ellenberger said.
