Round 1
Barberena opens with inside leg kicks. Lawler keeps his distance from Barberena and moves just out of range. Snapping left hand from Lawler followed up by a body shot. Right hand by Lawler lands. Barberena counters Lawler in a brief exchange. Barberena gets hit with a big right against the fence. Lawler connected with good combinations to the body. Barberena keeps the pace on and gets clipped by a big uppercut from Lawler. Another straight left from Lawler. Barberena has his back to the fence and Lawler has him in pocket trading strikes. Another big left from Lawler. Barberena connects with a big left. Body shot by Barberena in a flurry of attempts. Lawler fires back with one to the body and another to the head. Barberena with relentless pressure. Nasty uppercut by Lawler. Crazy volume by Barberena. Lawler hits another left uppercut. Lawler eats the right elbow twice. Beautiful one-two from Lawler. It’s been a boxing match for the most part.
Round 2
Barberena keeps his volume work up. Barberena blitzes in with a straight one-two. Lawler has him against the cage again and is landing some nice shots. Nasty right from Lawler. Another stingy jab from Lawler in southpaw. Lawler with a one-two. Barberena has the higher output but isn’t doing much damage. Good left from Barberena to the head. Barberena retreats and moves around the cage. Barberena rushes in and eats a right. Nice left connects from Lawler. Lawler is doing a good job avoiding Barberena’s attacks and counter them. Barberena connects with a big elbow to clip Lawler. Lawler is moving back now. Heavy strikes exchanged from both men. Lawler is wobbling and doesn’t look like he’s recovered. Barberena keeps up the elbows. Big right hands and combinations being dished out by Barberena in the final 30 seconds of the fight. He’s overwhelmed Lawler and secure
