Ian Garry’s wife, Layla Machado Garry, has responded to the multiple allegations and narratives being spread by MMA fans.

Over the last month, the number ten-ranked UFC welterweight, Ian Garry, and his wife have been harassed on social media. The verbal abuse has involved references to the age difference in their relationship, a book written by Layla, and more.

Layla Machado Garry decided to address the backlash in a series of videos clipped together and posted on YouTube by Full Send MMA. Layla began by referring to a 2010 “book” she created called “How to Be a WAG.”

The book talks about women who strive to become the wife of a young rich athlete. Fans began accusing Layla of utilizing her tactics to marry Ian Garry. Yet, the context of the satire book has not been clarified, so she cleared the air by saying:

“I can hardly call myself an author of an eleven-page audible-only satire story that was written in 2010. In 2010, that context is key because that was during the FIFA World Cup, where I was working at Okay magazine working with warriors different gossip mags, and we were creating this hilarious satire look at wives and girlfriends in football…If you want to call me an author for that, sweet. I think it was more of a light-hearted podcast…That satirical look is, if you listen to it, really silly, and anyone who takes it as fact has completely missed the mark.”

Ian Garry’s wife, Layla Machado Garry, reacts to fans who talk about age gap between her and her husband

Layla Machado Garry is 40 years old, while Ian Garry is 26. Fans have continuously attacked the happy couple for their age difference, and Layla decided to respond to the negative comments. She had this to say with a consistently satire tone:

“I’m 40 [years old], and to people who haven’t met me and have sat at home, that’s really disturbing to them. They’re really very upset about it and spending a great deal of time telling me how horrendous it is that I’m 40. Another thing that I did is that I dated someone almost 14 years younger than me, actually didn’t just date him, married him, Ian [Garry], and that has really deeply shocked some people.”

Layla Machado Garry continued by accusing fans of sexism:

“It’s *definitely not* laced with sexism. It’s affected their thoughts on everyone in the industry, including males that are dating females of the exact same age gap. They’ve definitely been offended by that as well.”

Ian Garry’s wife also shut down several other lies being told by fans. Most importantly, Layla clarified that Machado is her surname name and not her ex-husband’s, with some people falsely claiming otherwise. She also laughed off the idea that her ex-husband lives with her and ‘The Future.’

Ian Garry and his wife have begun threatening to sue people for defamation. More specifically, the number ten-ranked UFC welterweight allegedly sent messages to UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland about a potential lawsuit

Meanwhile, Garry is preparing to extend his UFC record to 7-0. On December 16, ‘The Future’ will meet Vicente Luque inside the T-Mobile Arena during the UFC 296 main card. With a win, the 26-year-old would take another step toward obtaining UFC gold and reaching superstardom.
