Henry Cejudo was locked and loaded with cringey comments for the UFC 288 press conference

Cejudo is primarily known for two things – making history in combat sports and being the ‘King of Cringe.’ On Saturday, May 6, the former two-division UFC champion looks to reclaim the 135-pound title, but first, he voiced several cringey comments during the press conference, which included the following:

“I wanna dedicate this fight, after I beat Aljalame, I wanna dedicate it to a very special homeless lesbian by the name of Sean O’Malley because he’s next.”

“A lot of people think I’m taking Aljamain lightly, but how can I take lightly somebody who walks around with an Academy Award like Aljamain Sterling.”

“My striking is so much better. My wrestling is so much better, and I got way better hair.”

“This dude with 26 losses, as a Division III wrestler, he’s going to bend the knee.”

“We all know you have bad credit, so don’t be putting anything up [as a wager].”

Regardless of Cejudo’s questionable trash talk, there is no argument against his greatness as a combat sports athlete. The former Olympic gold medalist has won UFC gold in two divisions, with wins against Dominick Cruz, TJ Dillashaw, Demetrious Johnson, and Marlon Moraes. At UFC 288, ‘Triple C’ plans to add Aljamain Sterling to his resume.

Henry Cejudo reveals his plans to fight Sean O’Malley and Alexander Volkanovski after beating Aljamain Sterling

When Henry Cejudo announced he was fighting again, fans questioned if his motives were financially related. Throughout the UFC 288 buildup, Cejudo has consistently said he’s returning to continue building his legacy. During the press conference on Thursday, ‘Triple C’ revealed his plans for the future by saying:

“First of all, I’m gonna stop this dude [Sterling] under three, and I promise you that. After that, I’m going after Sean O’Malley, and then I’m going after Alexander Volkanovski. I want Volkanovski in Australia. I’m coming back to make history.”

Cejudo last fought in May 2020, defeating Dominick Cruz before announcing his retirement. Since then, the 36-year-old has prioritized his coaching and analyst skills to build his social media platform and prepare other UFC fighters for championship fights. It’ll be intriguing to see if ‘Triple C’ can silence the doubters and emerge victorious inside the Prudential Center on May 6.
