When Sterling and Cejudo bumped into each other at the host hotel, it was a pretty calm and respectful interaction. They didn’t engage in any unnecessary showboating or drama, and simply exchanged a few words before going their separate ways.

Aljamain Sterling has faced plenty of criticism during his two-year stint as the UFC bantamweight champion. It’s part and parcel of being in a high-profile job, but the 33-year-old New Yorker has had to put up with a lot of negativity, most of which isn’t his fault. Sterling’s ascent to the UFC title was due to Petr Yan’s disqualification for an illegal knee during their fight in 2021. Despite the initial backlash, Sterling has developed a thick skin, and has learned to embrace his role as the bad guy. As a result, he’s been able to tune out most of the negative comments directed towards him.
