Daniel Cormier is ecstatic to watch and call the UFC 288 main event between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo.

Cejudo is ending his three-year-long retirement to face the bantamweight champ in Sterling on Saturday. It’s an intriguing matchup and the oddsmakers have this fight as a pick’em showing how close it is.

According to Cormier, he believes the bantamweight title fight is so special because the fight has so many questions. When a fight has so many questions, it usually means it’s an even fight and one that is very exciting to watch.

‘There are a number of questions that got to be answered’

“When Henry Cejudo is in a wrestling position, I think he is the better wrestler, but mixed martial arts is different,” Cormier said on his DC & RC show. “I do give the advantage to Sterling on the ground, in terms of the grappling, in straight jiu-jitsu, Aljamain Sterling is a handful for anyone. Whenever he can get you down, and trust me as a guy that wrestled in the Olympics, too, I’ve been taken down so it can happen to you inside the Octagon. I think Sterling would hold the advantage in straight jiu-jitsu but in transitions and wrestling transitions, I would favor Cejudo.

“But, this is why the fight is so special. There are so many different levels and so many different things that go into play between these two. Sterling is a bigger guy, Sterling’s taller, Sterling’s longer,” Cormier continued. “How does Cejudo deal with that type of wrestling offense coming in his direction? Because Aljamain is going to try to take him down to put himself ahead in the fight. How does Cejudo fight from behind if he gets behind in the fight? How does Aljo fight from behind if he gets behind in the fight? There are a number of questions that got to be answered between these two. But, the only time you have these types of questions is when you have a real even matchup.”

Although Daniel Cormier thinks the UFC 288 main event is special because it is evenly matched, both Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo are confident they will not only win but will finish each other. Yet, all the talking will soon end and the only thing left is for the two men to finally fight one another with the winner becoming the UFC’s bantamweight champion.
