One of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time thinks Jake Paul should crossover into MMA, from the way he’s been talking

Many mixed martial artists have said their piece about the YouTuber turned professional boxer; now you can add Demetrious Johnson to the list.

‘Do F*cking Mixed Martial Arts’

This week Johnson spoke with MMA Junkie before his huge fight this weekend at ONE X. ‘Mighty Mouse’ thinks Paul should mixed martial arts if he thinks he is so good at boxing.

“If Jake Paul thinks he’s so f*cking badass at boxing and all that stuff, hat’s off. You’re 3-0, 4-0 as a boxer. Do f*cking mixed martial arts,” Johnson said. “I did an interview the other day and I was like, ‘Everybody is worried about fighting this person, let’s see how much money I can make from this person.’ I was like, ‘Just do mixed martial arts.’ You think you’re that great, just do it. If I thought I was a badass boxer, I would be like, ‘Let me just box.’ Even when they offered this fight to me, it’s Rodtang. I was like, ‘I’ll fight in Muay Thai.’”

“I don’t give a f*ck,” Johnson continued. “What’s the worst thing that could happen? I get knocked out? OK. I go back home, train, get ready for the next one. If I win, what’s gonna happen? I go home, go get ready for the next one. So, for me, I could say I did it, I tried. As you get older, you find that you don’t knock people for trying.

‘Come Do It’

Safe to say DJ wouldn’t knock Jake Paul for trying MMA, even if he got brutally knocked out. However, until he does, Johnson doesn’t like him opening up his mouth too much.

“For me, when someone is like, ‘Ah blah, blah, blah, you MMA guys suck.’ It’s like, ‘Then come do it.’ If you’re successful, good job. You lose, you tried it.”

There were rumors of Paul maybe taking a fight this year as he teased the internet by releasing footage of him training. However, it looks like he will be returning to boxing this summer.

Johnson returns to action for the first time in 2022 against Muay Thai madman Rodtang at ONE X. It is a mixed rules fight; the first round will be Muay Thai, the second will be MMA, the third is back to Muay Thai, and it ends with MMA.
