Conor McGregor has fallen out of the top 10 most-paid athletes despite dominating the charts for a year.
Last summer, McGregor lost a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. Since then, he has not fought. His return to the UFC is expected to happen at the end of the year. However, he is still not back to full strength due to his injury recovery.
Despite his absence, the Forbes study shows Lionel Messi ($130 million) leads the way in earnings. Second place went to NBA star LeBron James ($121.2m), while Cristiano Ronaldo ($115m) rounded out the top three.
Only Canelo Alvarez, who made $80 million last year, made the top 10. Despite their involvement in huge heavyweight matches, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua got no spot on the list.
Here are some of the names includes in the list:
- Neymar ($95m)
- Stephen Curry ($92.8m)
- Kevin Durrant ($92.1m)
- Roger Federer ($90.7m)
- Tom Brady ($83.9m)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo ($80.9m)
It was McGregor who topped the list last year with earnings of $180million.
Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler both called out McGregor at UFC 274, but neither match appears likely at this time. McGregor is targeting a welterweight bout against Kamaru Usman.
