Modestas Buskauskas is back on top in Cage Warriors.

Buskauskas Floors Opponent

The former UFC fighter ended his 2022 year strong with a massive showing on New Year’s Eve. Buskauskas would meet Chuck Campbell in the main event of Cage Warriors 148. After 15 minutes of action, Buskauskas finally found his flow in round 4,

Just 22 seconds into the championship rounds, Buskauskas caught Campbell with an explosive overhand right that sent him down to the canvas.

No double tap was necessary as referee Marc Goddard called the fight off. Buskauskaus had done it… yet again.

‘So Nice I Had To Do It Twice’

This wouldn’t be the first time ‘The Baltic Gladiator’ had tasted Cage Warriors gold. Before a rather unlucky 1-3 run inside the UFC, Buskauskas won and even defended the Cage Warriors title back in 2019.

“One Shot. One Kill,” Buskauskas wrote on his Instagram. “The Comeback King does it again. Was so nice I had to do it twice #twotimeworldchampion. What a way to close out the year. Through my trials and tribulations, hard work and dedication, the dream slowly becomes reality.

“Thank you to all my coaches and sponsors and amazing people in my life helping me be the best I can be. I am truly nothing without you all. Sending massive love and good vibes to you all. 2023 we gonna come out even bigger and better. This was just a taste of what’s to come.”

UFC Run

The champion’s previous success in the promotion saw him get the call up to the UFC in 2020. Buskauskas burst onto the scene, winning his UFC debut in just 5 minutes against Andreas Michailidis. Unfortunately for Buskauskas, this would be his first and only win in the Octagon as the fighter met a murderer’s row of opponents in his next three fights.

Buskauskas lost to the likes of Jimmy Crute and Michal Oleksiejczuk before being handed his exit ticket against Khalil Rountree who put him out of commission with a devastating oblique kick to the knee.

After being sidelined for over a year, Buskauskas would win in his return to Cage Warriors, picking up a decision win over Lee Chadwick. The victory put the former champ in title contention once more against Campbell, who he made a highlight out of.
