Bobby Green opened up on how following a YouTube doctor’s advice got him suspended by USADA.

Grizzled veteran Bobby Green was last seen in action against current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in Feb. at UFC Fight Night 202. Makhachev dominated Green en route to a quick first-round finish to snap his two-fight win streak.

He was scheduled to face fellow veteran Jim Miller in July for UFC 276 but needed to withdraw due to a failed drug test.

Bobby Green says he followed a YouTube doctor’s advice and got suspended by USADA

In a recent interview with Inside Fighting, Bobby Green detailed how following a tip from a YouTube doctor resulted in his six-month suspension.

“Basically, I watched some stupid doctor on Youtube. I listened to this guy, following what he said, I’m all about health and not performance enhancing anything. But anything that will clear my lungs because I smoke a lot, clear my arteries; I’m trying to do those things, help my heart and stuff like that. I’m all about health. I’m watching this doctor who I had been following for a year and stuff. His name is Dr. Eric Berg. I listened to all this guy’s sh*t. He’s the only guy I watched with health sh*t. So I was like, ‘yeah, I’m going to do that.’

“I started taking olive oil, doing these little things he says like taking melatonin. He mentioned in one of his videos about DHEA. I had no idea what the f**k it was. I don’t pay attention to drugs because I don’t do drugs, I smoke weed and that’s it. He said to do the DHEA thing. I go to Walmart, I never thought that you would have anything in Walmart that would be bad. I’m like, ‘what, in Walmart?’ I can see if I even try to get a prescription or if it’s over-the-counter. No, I’m talking about on the shelf, right there in the vitamin section.”

Green argued the suspension was ‘bullsh*t’

Green admitted that it was a learning moment for him to get more educated on the topic. He argued he did not intend to cheat and claimed USADA was understanding.

“I had no idea that I would get f**ked up over some bullsh*t. I had to deal with it. They gave me a six-month suspension, even USADA was like this is the lightest we can give you. They even know it was bullsh*t, they can tell them I’ve never played or had anything in the sport in 20 years of doing this sh*t.”

“It’s a learning lesson. You don’t know everything. I don’t pay attention to drugs sh*t at all and I f**ked up. I’ll take the ownership of that but I had no f**king idea.” h/t MMANews

Bobby Green’s six-month suspension is over and he will mark his return to the octagon against Drew Dober this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 216.
