Alistair Overeem is not happy with the way his MMA career ended and is looking for one more farewell fight.

For many years Alistair Overeem was a staple in the UFC heavyweight division. He was in the UFC for 11 years and during his time there fought with some of the best fighters in the world. Although he was never able to capture that elusive UFC heavyweight title, he will go down as one of the best heavyweights of all time. He left the UFC following his release in 2021 and since has been going back to his roots and competing in kickboxing.

Overeem is a very talented kickboxer and some may say the best of all time. He is now fighting with Glory Kickboxing and looking like he is in the best shape of his life. He recently won his Glory debut earlier this month and is set to take on the Glory Kickboxing champion Rico  Verhoeven in his next outing. Overeem was a guest on the latest episode of The MMA Hour and spoke about how much he is enjoying his time in Glory.

Alistair Overeem is not ready to put his MMA career to rest just yet

Overeem spoke about how well he is being treated in his new organization and how the pay is equal to or even better than his pay in the UFC. Despite the success, he is having now in kickboxing he feels that his MMA career did not resolve in the way he would like it to. He ended his UFC career with a loss to Alexander Volkov by TKO.

“So there is still a little thought process that I have. That is like MMA didn’t finish correctly. So that could be room for myself or one more MMA,” he said. “We’ll talk to some promoter and then we’ll figure out something nice. Some MMA farewell or something. Yeah, we’ll figure it out.”

There are a few options for Overeem if he would like to take one more MMA fight before hanging up his gloves for good. Of course, the big promotions like Bellator or PFL could be good fits, or perhaps something more local to him in The Netherlands. In the meantime, Overeem is expecting what he called “the biggest fight in The Netherlands” when he takes on Verhoeven next year.
