The Game Of Throne TV series on HBO came to a close back in 2019, and even UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski, along with many other fans, were left unsatisfied with the story’s conclusion. After airing for eight years, the popular medieval series came to its conclusion in 2019 with an ending that fans were not too pleased with, voicing their frustrations on social media.
It’s regarded as one of the more underwhelming conclusions to a popular television series of all time. Millions of fans watched the hit TV series on a weekly basis, so it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to learn that the likes of Volkanovski was also a regular viewer.
Alexander Volkanovski Speaks Out On Game Of Thrones Finale
Volkanovski recently took part in Alex Behunin’s Humanizing Athletes series, where he was asked what his favorite television series was. He answered that it was, in fact, Game Of Thrones, before admitting he was also let down by the finale along with many other fans.
“The Great” has never been shy about his love for Game Of Thrones, as he actually walked out to the show’s theme song back in 2018 at UFC 221 when he fought Jeremy Kennedy. Volkanovski ended up winning the fight via second-round TKO.
However, he has since made a conscious decision to no longer use the show’s theme for his walkouts. The primary cause of this change was his disappointment with the last season, which influenced his choice to abandon the show’s soundtrack.
Volkanovski is currently preparing for the biggest fight of his career. The 145-pound champion is jumping up to 155 pounds to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight crown. They’ll headline the UFC 284 pay-per-view (PPV) from Perth, Australia on February 12.
