  • Boxing and MMA stars gave their honest reaction to the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou decision
  • Most of them think “The Predator” won but the judges gave the nod to “The Gypsy King”

The combat sports world witnessed a historic fight after Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou went toe-to-toe for 10 rounds inside the ring. The former UFC heavyweight champion scored the only knockdown of the fight but in the end, it was “The Gypsy King” who won via split decision.

As expected, known boxing and MMA personalities shared their thoughts on the seemingly controversial outcome.

The ringside audience have spoken

After Ngannou’s knockdown on Fury in Round 3, many believe that “The Gypsy King” didn’t do much to catch up and even beat “The Predator.” It’s also what the famous boxing and MMA personalities who watched the fight ringside say.

“No, it wasn’t a robbery. Everybody the outcome,” Mike Tyson said as he cheered for Ngannou ringside.

“I don’t know how they saw that result. Francis won this fight. He won this fight. Much respect to Tyson. He’s amazing but Francis won this fight… Tyson Fury was only touching him,” former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos pointed out.

“C’mon man, [Ngannou] landed hard shots, clean shots but it’s boxing… either one, it doesn’t matter Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, all those other guys are big big-name heavyweights and I think now they see what Francis Ngannou has to offer,” former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman said.

“Well, obviously I’m a little biased Francis is one of our guys but I thought Francis did a great job, had everything he needed to do to win this fight, switch leads, Superman punch, be awkward, be an MMA fighter in the boxing world and I think that says it all right there. There’s no way those judges will let him win at the end of the day. I think he did what he what he needed to do win, he didn’t get the call,” former two-division UFC champ Randy Couture assessed.

PPV viewers say the same thing

Those who tuned in via pay-per-view echoed pretty much the same sentiment. UFC legend Nate Diaz even accused the commentators of being “biased,” while multi-division boxing champ Canelo Alvarez was left speechless.

Ngannou is now expected to focus on his much-awaited PFL debut. Fury, meanwhile, will move on and maximize his time to prepare for his unification title bout against Oleksandr Usyk in December.
