Ngannou also provides an update on his upcoming PFL debut next year.

Tyson Fury might be looking past Francis Ngannou.

At least, that’s what many fans believe after the boxing heavyweight champion signed for another fight with Oleksandr Usyk. Fury is now double-booked, with the first fight coming against ex-UFC champ Ngannou this weekend.

Ngannou On Fury’s Gamble

One might think Ngannou was ‘disrespected’ by Fury’s decision to announce this fight right before theirs takes place in Saudi Arabia. However, ‘The Predator’ doesn’t seem to be fazed by it at all.

“If you look at it in the right angle, the Usyk fight was the fight that Tyson was supposed [to have before] even me. I took this scene and then I got the fight. So, he is fighting me first. We are getting the way bigger fight,” Ngannou said on The MMA Hour.

“I don’t really care what he’s gonna do after with Usyk or with whomever is gonna do it. So even though the boxing community will consider that the most legit fight, because it’s for a unified title, I’m having a big stage. It can’t be as big as this, no matter what. So why would I be upset about something that is smaller than what I have?”

Not His Problem

The super-fight between Usyk & Fury has been brewing for the last few years, and now it’s closer than ever to happening. But, Ngannou could potentially spoil those plans if he were to somehow knock out ‘The Gypsy King’ in the ring.

“That’s their problem, that’s not mine,” Ngannou said, when asked what would happen to Fury if he were to be KO’ed in their fight. “I don’t have to deal with that. I think about like what’s next to me. I’m also going to fight, uh, somewhere in the future or after that fight too. For example, I’m going to fight in PFL early next year. We haven’t announced that yet, but I’m going to fight. There is a fight going on. We both definitely going to fight after this fight.”

‘We Are Working On Some Options’

Unlike Fury, Ngannou doesn’t have an opponent lined up for his next-next fight in the PFL.

“Not yet,” Ngannou said, when asked if there was a date set for his PFL debut. “The time-frame is set, between February and March. [Opponent] not decided yet, couple of options. We really have nothing, we haven’t gone far enough to talk about it yet. But, we are working on some options.”

Ngannou On Fighting ‘#1’

Until then, Francis Ngannou is more focused on the task-at-hand in Tyson Fury this Saturday.

“I’m really excited to compete on Saturday,” Ngannou continued. “I’m really excited to see how good I can do out there. It’s something that I’m looking forward to. I’m going to be fighting the boxing world champion, the number one.

“If you are not nervous at that moment, that means something wrong with you. That means you are not aware of a danger that is front of, of you, you know? So, um, and I’m diff I’m clearly aware of who Tyson Fury is, what I have to deal with. “I’m maybe nervous, but I’m good.”
