It’s no surprise that Nate Diaz remains confident despite losing to Jake Paul via decision in their epic boxing match. For Diaz, it doesn’t bother him as it wasn’t a real fight. However, he is down to run it back in either MMA or boxing again.

Nate knew he’d beat Jake in a “real fight”

Speaking to reporters in his post-fight presser, Diaz pointed out that he is not hating on “The Problem Child” but he still believes Paul can’t really fight. More importantly, the Stockton native insisted that had they fought in a “real fight,” Jake would’ve ended up like his brother Logan’s lookalike during the street brawl in New Orleans.

“I’m not trying to f**king talk sh*t. He’s boxing high-level MMA guys and he’s sparring hard and working with good people and then he starts talking sh*t to me throughout the camp. It comes with the territory and all is fair, love and war, I’m always about that. Say whatever you want, that’s fine. But then when you start making things personal, trying to make things personal, saying sh*t he shouldn’t be saying,” Diaz explained. “It hurts people’s feelings when I say this ain’t a real fight. Because if it’s a real fight, remember Logan Paul [lookalike] in New Orleans? No problem.”

“This is not a real fight to be talking to me like that. This is a boxing competition,” he added. “So that’s what I meant by he can’t really fight. It’s not overly disrespectful.”

Down for a Rematch

As expected, Diaz is not ruling out a rematch with Paul be it in boxing or in MMA. Paul has been vocal about his desire to do it again with Diaz in MMA under the PFL. Diaz said he and his team will take a look at it and see which of the options makes the most sense.

“Right now we’re going home and we’re going to talk about it and we’re going to figure out whether we want to do MMA or boxing, and then we’ll see what they want to do,” Diaz revealed. “They said they wanted to do the PFL thing, and I think that if we want to do that, we’re going to have to co-promote and do Real Fight vs. PFL, and I’m with that. But my goal is to get a rematch in any art.”

“We’re going to see what happens with him, see if he really wants to do that,” he added. “If not, I’ll be back in this hunting him down too. Either way is fine with me.”

Paul and the PFL’s offer for Diaz is $10 million. Nothing is concrete yet at this point but Diaz clearly is eager to do a rematch.

Despite the defeat, Diaz is still regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters of his generation. The loss to Paul makes him 0-1 in pro boxing.
