Jake Paul is convinced that he has done enough to prove that he already earned a shot at Canelo Alvarez.

Jake wants the biggest fish

Paul only needed less than one round to finish Ryan Bourland via TKO in their boxing match this Saturday in Puerto Rico. After the win, “The Problem Child” revisited his plan to take on Alvarez and even pitched a Puerto Rico vs. Mexico narrative.

“I’m ready. I’m getting sharp. This is my life now, and, like I said, I’m on the road to becoming a world champion. Ey, Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it, and I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico, so it’s Puerto Rico vs Mexico,” Paul told Ariel Helwani in his post-fight interview. “I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. I’m the face of this sport. Truly, who’s doing more for boxing than me?”

Jake wants “real fighters” if Canelo says no

While Paul is optimistic about a showdown with Alvarez, it’s still quite far-fetched at this point. When quizzed to name his other option besides the Mexican boxing legend, “The Problem Child” said he would have to see who ticked the boxes but as much as possible, he’s only facing “real fighters.”

“We’ll see. It’s back to the drawing board. I don’t want to give anybody the attention because a lot of these guys don’t want to sign the contract, especially when I keep doing sh*t like this to all my opponents. I’m on the path to world champion and I want to keep on fighting tougher fights. If a money fight pops up, I’ll take it because those are fun. But for now I’m staying on the path of fighting real fighters and increasing the level of opposition,” Paul pointed out.

The win over Bourland is Paul’s second consecutive first-round finish victory. He also won in the same fashion in his last fight when he KO’d Andre August in the opening round. As it stands, Paul now has a 9-1 pro boxing record.
