Gervonta Davis may be facing a harsher punishment for his pending hit-and-run charges.

Boxing lightweight champion Gervonta Davis will be headed to court on Friday to be sentenced in his pending hit-and-run case. The undefeated champ is fresh off his most recent win over Ryan Garcia in one of the most-watched boxing matches of the year. People have been talking about how good Davis looked in that last bout after ended the fight with a hard liver shot to Garcia. Now the up-and-coming star could be sidelined and possibly see prison due to a charge of four traffic offenses: leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failing to notify of property damage, driving with a revoked license, and running a red light.

The incident happened back in November of 2020. Davis was arrested and pleaded guilty to the four counts. The accident left four people injured, including a pregnant woman. The plea of guilty was supposed to allow a suspended sentence, however, that has been walked back.

Davis will appear in a Baltimore court on Friday to accept his sentencing. The suspended sentence that he was supposed to receive was rejected by one of the victims. That victim has pushed for Davis to serve time in prison for his crimes and they might be getting what they wish for.

This is far from Davis’s first run-in with the law. He has been charged with battery and domestic violence on multiple occasions. His most recent charge was back in December when he was arrested on a domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm in Florida. Davis knew that these charges would be pending after he faced Garcia and now the results of the court case today could affect his career and slow the roll he is on following the win.
