- Eddie Hearn claims he heard talks of a Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury fight targeted on August 13
- “The Problem Child” has previously addressed the subject
For those who don’t know, Jake Paul was originally slated for a bout against Tommy Fury last December. However, health issues prompted the latter to withdraw and ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley stepped in.
Now, Paul has yet to pick his next opponent but Fury has been one of the names being mentioned. Before anything concrete comes out, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn may have just made a shocking confirmation about the said fight.
Paul has recently been working with Hearn on various matters in the sport. Though he doesn’t exclusively manages and represent “The Problem Child,” there’s a good chance he knows a thing or two about the YouTuber’s plans.
According to Hearn, the botched Paul vs. Fury is finally happening this year, and based on what he has learned, it is set for “August 13.”
“I don’t represent them, but I hear that fight [Paul vs Fury] is happening August 13, so you might see it,” Hearn told talkSPORT. “Jake Paul is a strange one, but I like what he’s doing for boxing. I did Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor with him and it was great fun, it was a big success, he’s putting the work in and he’s not terrible. But it will be a pleasant day when someone chins him.”
Paul came clean about Fury
In April, Paul already opened up about the real status between him and Fury. As per the internet star, taking on Tyson Fury’s younger brother is “just not good business” as Tommy is incredibly terrible in promoting fights.
All told, Paul is hoping that Fury does “something” to entice him again, suggesting that a win “in a violent way” would possibly do.
It is yet to be known whether Hearn was telling the truth or not. The only thing certain at the moment is that Paul wants his next fight to be huge once again.
