- Paige VanZant thinks she did well in her pro wrestling debut at AEW
- The former UFC strawweight champion is set to headline a BKFC event in July
After a few hooplas, Paige VanZant finally made her maiden in-ring pro wrestling appearance at AEW’s “Double or Nothing,” a pay-per-view event that recently took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ultimately, “12 Gauge” put on quite a performance as she was able to score a huge victory as a member of the American Top Team alongside Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. Paige’s team beat Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara, and Tay Conti in their mixed trio bout via pinfall.
An epic debut
Speaking to The Schmo after the win, VanZant reckoned that she has been impressive in her pro wrestling debut. More importantly, the ex-UFC star is confident about becoming the next big thing in the sport.
“I’m feeling great. I went out there, we got the win, I feel like I put on an impressive performance,” VanZant declared. “I showed everybody [that I’m] meant to be a pro wrestler too. I never give myself a perfect grade. There’s always room for improvement [and] I’m only going to get better. I just started training pro-wrestling but you got to see how quickly I picked up pro-wrestling moves and I showed all the girls in the division they got somebody to look out for now.”
Back to real fighting
On July 16, VanZant will handle some real fighting business once again. She is set to headline BKFC’s first-ever event in London, but is yet to pick an opponent.
VanZant will be coming in looking to cop her first win in the promotion. It can be recalled that she hasn’t tasted a victory since joining BKFC, having lost to Britain Hart in her debut and fallen short-handed against fellow former UFC fighter Rachel Ostovich in her second fight.
