Floyd Mayweather Jr. put on another masterclass performance in his latest exhibition match under Super Rizin at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The unbeaten boxing legend knocked out Japan’s Mikuru Asakura in the second round, sending the crowd to frenzy.

Intense opening round

Both Mayweather and Asakura came to fight as they engaged in an intense back and forth right in the opening round. The famous Japanese YouTuber landed a few shots on “Money” but the American quickly returned the favor.

A stunning KO

Mayweather and Asakura picked up where they left off in round 2. The Japanese MMA star became more aggressive in chasing down the elusive boxing legend and managed to land a few combinations in the process.

However, Mayweather still had the last laugh as he perfectly landed a devastating straight right that saw Asakura getting knocked out just before the bell rang.

Asakura struggled to get back to his feet, prompting the referee in charge to stop the fight, declaring Mayweather as the winner via KO.

Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao?

After the win, Mayweather acknowledged the fans and credited Asakura for helping him entertain the crowd. The undefeated boxer then vowed that “he’ll be back” and a few moments later, his former rival and eight-division titlist Manny Pacquiao, who was ringside the entire fight, entered the ring to congratulate Mayweather.

Fans in attendance were delighted to have witnessed two of the greatest boxers of all time inside the ring. And though Mayweather did not hint at anything about a potential exhibition match between him and Pacquiao, the Filipino boxing legend said he will be looking forward to another event.

“Thank you so much for this opportunity. I witnessed a good exhibition and good promotion,” Pacquiao said. “Rizin, thank you for the chance and I hope that this will not be the last one.”

The win over Asakura was Mayweather’s second exhibition match victory this year. It can be recalled that “Money” also pulled off a sensational performance against Dan Moore at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi in May.

Will Mayweather close the year 2022 with another blockbuster exhibition match? Let’s wait and see.
