Dana White Confirms Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone Targeted

There are rumors going around that the UFC is looking to book Conor McGregor to fight Donald Cerrone for January. Now Dana White confirms that this is a bout they want.

The MMA world was abuzz when Conor McGregor announced his intent to return to competition. Immediately after this announcement, reports followed suggesting that Cerrone was the front-runner for the opponent. However this was something that White was dismissive about.

White confirmed that the UFC was looking to have an event on the day McGregor suggested. Nevertheless, he did not say that McGregor vs Cerrone would be on the card. In fact, he said that things were far from official.

Now, speaking with TMZ, Dana White is starting to warm up to the idea. While he says there is still a while to go before it is official, he does say that the bout is being targeted.

“We have nothing done, nothing is even close to being done. So, I hate to even talk about this stuff, say it, because it might not happen, it might happen, but we’re looking at Cowboy. Number three versus number five, January 18 at the T-Mobile in Las Vegas.”

While it took to this point for White to admit it, it was pretty clear that this is what the UFC was looking for. Cerrone spoke out, calling for McGregor to sign the papers for the fight. Therefore, it seems that the holdup is between the UFC and Conor.

Currently, a few other bouts have been looked at for the January 18th card. If Dana White can get McGregor vs Cerrone done, it will absolutely be a massive affair.
