A massive women’s superfight could be taking place at UFC 300 as strawweight champion Weili Zhang called for a champ-champ fight against Alexa Grasso in April.
Zhang doesn’t currently have a fight booked, although many expected her to face Xiaonan Yan as she looks to defend her belt for the second time in her second title reign. However, the 34-year-old is interested in trying to make history as she called out flyweight champion Alexa Grasso for a superfight at UFC 300 in April.

“Hi champion. Maybe the fans want to see us fight at UFC 300,” Zhang wrote.
After Zhang’s comment, Grasso responded to it and accepted the callout as the Mexican has an interest in making it happen.
“I admire you so much! And I’d love to defend my title with you. Would you make 125,” Grasso wrote.
On paper, a superfight between Weili Zhang and Alexa Grasso does make a lot of sense. Although Yan deserves a title shot, a fight between Zhang and Grasso could be a great co-main or even perhaps the third fight on the main card if the promotion does truly stack UFC 300 as they say.
Weili Zhang & Alexa Grasso’s recent fights
Weili Zhang (24-3) is coming off a decision win over Amanda Lemos in the co-main event of UFC 292 in August to defend her belt for the first time after reclaiming her strawweight title at UFC 281 with a second-round submission over Carla Esparza.
Zhang is 8-2 in the UFC and is a two-time strawweight champion with notable wins over Joanna Jedrzejczyk, twice, Jessica Andrade, and Tecia Torres among others.
Alexa Grasso (16-3-1) is coming off a draw against Valentina Shevchenko in her first chance to defend her belt after she scored a stunning submission win over Shevchenko in March. Although it was likely that Grasso and Shevchenko would have their rematch, perhaps the Zhang super fight is next.
Grasso is 8-3-1 in the UFC and holds notable wins over Maycee Barber, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and Joanne Wood among others.
