Video: Humble Tito Ortiz says Dana White was right about Oscar De La Hoya

Tito Ortiz Dana White Oscar De La Hoya

If there is any justice left in MMA, one day The Schmo will topple Ariel Helwani as the sport’s biggest media star. The year will be 2049 and MiddleEasy will still be composing Tito Ortiz versus Dana White stories.

Just going to also assume The Schmo owns all MMA media site by that time anyway.

So maybe MMA is not getting a second Golden Boy MMA event? One event in and Oscar De La Hoya is already throwing up the peace signs at human cage fights. De La Hoya fumbled his one and only MMA event so bad, that Tito Ortiz and Dana White are agreeing on the topics of the day.

What the hell did De La Hoya do to Ortiz that he ditched the promotion after one show and is now trashing ODL in the media? Things are so bad that Ortiz says White was right about De La Hoya.

“I think he made a lot of mistakes, but at the same time, for a boxing promoter to come into mixed martial arts, it’s a different animal. Dana was right.”

Least. Surprising. Outcome. Ever.

De La Hoya was at least five years too late on getting into the MMA bubble. UFC has the market on lock and the scraps that MMA has leftover are already being sucked up by Bellator, ONE, Rizin, KSW, and now Combate Americas.

Ortiz recently signed with Combate Americas and maybe something interesting will come of that relationship. Tito Ortiz is running out of options on where he can still fight. Pretty much the only outcome that would be 100% MMA is Ortiz eventually winning his way back to the UFC, only to be fed to Jon Jones in 2021.
