- Dana White announced Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler for UFC 303
- The UFC boss confirmed Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier as UFC 302’s main event
UFC president Dana White has confirmed Conor McGregor’s return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 as well as Islam Makhachev’s next title fight against Dustin Poirier.
Conor is officially back!
Speaking to the media after UFC 300, the UFC boss was excited to announce McGregor vs. Chandler as the headliner of UFC 303 on June 29th. The announcement came just shortly after White dismissed “The Notorious'” claim that the Chandler fight was already officially booked.
In line with that, White took the opportunity to address why McGregor’s much-awaited comeback was delayed over and over again.
“It’s not that we’ve been working on it for ages,” White said. “There are all kinds of things that go on behind the scenes. You know, it’s all about timing. Chandler has been ready but Conor hasn’t been ready. We talked about this at one of the press conferences recently, he had a lot of obligations that he had to deal with. What you don’t want him doing is accepting a fight when he’s got a ton of obligations and he can’t train 100% for a fight.”

Islam found a new challenger
Another massive announcement White made was obviously the Makhachev vs. Poirier lightweight title fight. White confirmed the bout to headline UFC 302 on June 1st and the middleweight showdowns between Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa will be the co-main event.
Makhachev is finally facing a fresh opponent after defending his lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski in two consecutive fights. On the other hand, McGregor is expected to take the UFC by storm once again in his highly-anticipated return.
