Dana White called for Holly Holm to retire after suffering a disappointing defeat at UFC 300.
On Saturday night, two-time PFL women’s lightweight champion Kayla Harrison made her highly-anticipated Octagon debut. Harrison, who also won two Olympic gold medals in Judo, faced former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holm and passed the test with flying colors by securing a second-round submission win.
Harrison’s dominant performance at UFC 300 impressed many people in the MMA community, including Dana White. During the post-event press conference, the UFC CEO reacted by saying:
“Going in against a legend like Holly [Holm] who’s got tons of time in the Octagon. I don’t care what level Kayla Harrison has competed at, I guarantee you she had some serious jitters tonight. She came in there, she performed, and she literally put it to an absolute legend in all of combat sports. Obviously a big night for her and a big win.”
White also had this to say about what’s next for Holm:
“I would love to see Holly retire.”

Dana White reacts to Amanda Nunes teasing an Octagon return
In 2023, Amanda Nunes retired from professional MMA after defending her women’s bantamweight throne against Irene Aldana. With that said, ‘The Lioness’ teased a return after seeing Kayla Harrison emerge victorious at UFC 300, as they wanted to fight each other for several years when they were in different promotions.
While speaking to the media, Dana White reacted to Nunes’ social media video about Harrison by saying:
“I like it. I thought [Nunes] retired too soon anyway. I like that she’s intrigued by this fight. I love it, and I love Amanda. Amanda and I have an incredible relationship, and I think she’s the GOAT in all combat sports female. So, if Kayla [Harrison] can get in there and win a title, it would absolutely be fun to see her comeback and try to grab it again.”
Dana White later claimed he believes Amanda Nunes would want to return for a title fight. Therefore, she might wait until Kayla Harrison potentially secures UFC gold. It’ll be easier said than done, as reigning women’s bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington and number one contender Julianna Pena have other plans.
