Sergei Kharitonov Punches His Way Through Matt Mitrione, Stops Him Via Second-Round TKO!
Bellator 225 “Mitrione Vs Kharitonov 2” takes place live now (Saturday, August 24, 2019) from inside Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The main event of the evening brings the 265-pound bout between the former UFC fighter and Shotokan Karate black belt Matt “Meathead” Mitrione and Brilliant 2 Heavyweight Tournament champion Sergei Kharitonov.
The two already fought in the main event of Bellator 215, where Matt Mitrione smashed Kharitonov’s family jewels with a nasty kick. Their first match lasted only 15 seconds. The Russian competitor was unable to continue after a nut shot, and the bout ended as a no contest.
Matt apologized for the illegal groin kick, while Kharitonov was taken to the hospital. Sergei’s injuries were serious.
Sergei wears black trunks and blue gloves, while Mitrione enters the Octagon in red gloves and black shorts. The referee in charge of this contest is Dan Miragliotta. Here we go!
Round 1
The match starts. Mitrione threw the first kick, but not to the groin, it was a kick to the face, checked by Sergei. Mitrione attacks with leg kicks, while Sergei keeps his hands up, blocking the incoming strikes.
Kharitonov circles around the cage, but leg kicks keep coming. Mitrione nearly tripped Kharitonov, but good defense. Uppercuts on the fence Matt, but Kharitonov breaks free and punishes him with a left hook. Leg kick followed by a right jab.
Kharitonov circles around his rival. Mitrione starts attacking foe’s body with nasty punches. Big left and right. Right to the body Kharitonov left to the face “Meathead”. Fighters clinch up, and Mitrione lost his mouthpiece, Miragliotta calls time, then restarts the bout.
Right-hand Kharitonov, and another strike to the body. Left hook Mitrione, but he lost his mouthpiece again. Dan Miragliotta warns him – next time he’ll abduct a point! Very close round 1, I think 10-9 Kharitonov, unsure.
Round 2
Kharitonov’s face is bleeding, he looks seriously hurt at the moment. But Kharitonov keeps attacking Mitrione with a left hand, and now delivers a huge body shot. Kharitonov knocks him down, Mitrione loses his mouthpiece again. Big left hand, now a right uppercut hurts Matt!
